CSS is Considered the Best Practice for Web Design

In the world of graphic and web design, often times you will find yourself outsourcing. If you are much of a design for web or graphics, just find someone to do it for you. There are a variety of good networks out there such as Elance, Rent a Coder, or Odesk. All of these networks make it easy and affordable to get web design and graphic design projects done for cheap.

One of the most difficult challenges when putting together a website is converting it to html once you have your design. If you are lacking web design or graphic design skills, converting your designs can be a daunting task. There are some simple and affordable ways to convert your PSD or JPG into HTML. Programs such as Photoshop or Fireworks will assist you while converting designs into HTML and CSS. The most common export from Firefox exports using tables. This simply means that the HTML will be using the

tag and most likely all your images will be imbedded into the page. To avoid this, you will need to create a CSS based layout. Unfortunately both Fireworks and Photoshop do not export the best CSS. To learn more about the best CSS practices you can checkout sites such as http://www.W3.org. This is the World Wide Web Consortium which gives you up to date information on all the latest coding standards. If you are going to be designing html or css you need the Web Developer toolbar for firefox. If you haven't been using firefox, what the heck is your problem? Go get it now. It will give you the safest and easiest browsing experience.

When converting your psd to html I highly recommend you use the CSS model. If you don’t know anything about CSS, you can always outsource as I mentioned previously. If you decide to take on this challenge yourself, you need to be aware of the CSS markup supported by each major browser. When coding for Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari, it is a good idea to continually check your HTML and CSS in each browser. In some instances, what looks good in Firefox may not look good in IE or Safari. An amazingly simple program I have been using for some time is Rapid CSS. This program allows you to check your CSS markup while you are coding, to ensure a good working cross browser relationship. Another great resource to have on hand is a CSS cheat sheet. I found a great FREE one here: http://www.addedbytes.com/download/css-cheat-sheet-v1/pdf/

The cheat sheet is the perfect thing to have on hand while you are coding. This way you maintain all the most common CSS markup in one spot as an easy reminder. When coding your pages into CSS, make sure you stick to the box model. CSS code is really designed for implimenting box models. CSS is easy to learn and very flexible. Yes, it may be easier and require less brain power to slice up an image in Fireworks and just export the HTML,  but this method does not follow best practices. Your page size will be larger which in turn will cause your pages to load slowly. Table based layouts are generally harder to read through than CSS. When designing a website that you want the Search Engines to love for SEO reasons, CSS is the way to go. The search engines will zip right though your pages and find the exact content they need to know everything about your page.

To find out more about  a psd to html service, just do a simple search in Google or you can try doing a few searches such as, PSD to HTML, PSD to CSS, Jpeg into CSS, Convert PSD to CSS,  Convert Design Service, convert psd to xhtml service, web design services, etc.Best of Luck.
