adobe photoshop – omage maps (links) ready for web?

Hi adobe photoshop users;
I know how to insert an imagemap to create a link to a URL on a graphic in imageready. WHen I preview this everything works O.K.
However I am having trouble when I save it to a jpeg / psd/ gif file
as the graphic workspace is saved in detail but my links are not trtransformed with the graphic?
WHat am I doing wrong? How do I get the imagemaps on to web pages either on my desktop or on the web so that all the links work?

Hope this helps,
I had to upload the image i wanted using a FTP program, into my server, then insert the image into my webpage from the server. i them just added a link to it and typed in the URL where it could be found.
